The Wolf wants to spotlight those in our community who put Service before Self. Let us introduce you to Rolly Goeden.
The Yankton County Search and Rescue is proud to have Rolly Goeden as part of their team for more than ten years. Goeden works in many areas of the department such as an ice rescue trainer, diver support, first responder, drone pilot and fixed wing aircraft pilot. Other duties include boat operator and expertise in rope rescue.
Goeden was formerly a Civil Air Patrol pilot and knew that his aviation skills could be utilized locally thus he chose to join the Yankton SAR Team. “I like being able to do something or actually participate in helping people who are under extreme stress from a situation that they have no control over anymore,” says Goeden. The massive local flooding in March of 2019 provided many memorable water rescues in Goeden’s decade long service.
When not piloting with the Yankton SAR, Goeden enjoys aviation and flying recreationally. He is also an avid Grandfather and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoys hiking, fishing and hunting.
